Cor Powersports brought riders to Dubuque, Iowa for the first round of the Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge series. With National Hillclimb in Jackson Hole and a race at ERX, numbers were lower than anticipated.

Saturday featured hillcross and hillclimb each consisting of three rounds and finals. Cross-country was all scheduled for Sunday.

Hillcross

Hillcross was the first dicipline to hit the track. In the schoolboy class, Paul Brown won all his heats on his Arctic Cat. In the final he jumped the start and finished 2nd but was penalized 2 positions putting him back to 4th. Ski-doo rider Andy Junglen took home the win. Paul Brown also swept his heats in Sport 600 stock but finished 4th in the final which was won by Derick Krug. Michael Neely won Vet 30+ and Mitchell Gross took the open/sport 900 mod class.

In hillcross Pro 600 Mod Collin Kernz swept the day winning all his heats and winning his final with Mitchell Gross finishing 2nd. He also took home a victory in Pro 600 Stock.
In Pro 600 Stock, Mitchell Gross went home with a 2nd place finish with Collin Kernz winning the class and Dillian Dohrn coming across in 3rd.

Hillclimb

In Pro 900 Stock Andrew Michels had the fastest climb at 41.59. Joseph Matthias took the Schoolboy and Sport 600 Stock classes with a 42.18. In the Open class, Andrew Michels took home the win. Korey Johnson was the lone entry in Pro 900 Mod with a time of 46.05 and was the Mod King.

In the Vet 30+ class, Michael Neely took another win in hillclimb with a time of 41.92.
Cross country Semi Pro rider Dan Revering put out fast times from the start winning the Pro 600 Stock class with a quick 39.34. Dan Revering and Andrew Michels battled hard for the Stock King title. Revering took home the win with the fastest time of the day with a 39.33.
Some other riders did not have the best luck with the ski-hill icy racing style. Duane Conrade (1) battled with Nels Wicklund (220) in the Sport 600 Stock class which ended in an off for Conrade.

Cross-Country

Sunday brought in scattered showers and dense fog on Sundown Mountain. With no signs of fog lifting, riders took on the 2.1 mile course. Joseph Mitthias took a quick lead in the first race and was consistant through the 6 lap Sport final. He took the victory with Luke Van Lyssel and Nick Can Lyssel rounding out the podium. Michael Neely yet again won the Vet 30+ class with Joel Kreuziger and Adam Johnson behind him.

When the Factory Pro and Factory Semi Pro riders took the track, the competition was tight. On track, Dilllian Dohrn and Dan Revering battled for the top spot. But, David Brown also was in the mix according to time. Dillian Dohrn took home the win with David Brown and Dan Revering behind him.

Marshall Busse took home the win in Semi Pro Factory with Derick Krug and Paul Brown rounding out the podium. Joseph Matthias had an excellent weekend taking another win in Sport Stock by a minute and a half. Peter Theisen also won the Trail class by over a minute. The 15-lap Semi-Pro final was a close battle across the board.

Fifteen-year-old Paul Brown is already a force to be recon with in cross-country. He took control of the Semi-Pro final from the beginning and won the class on his Arctic Cat. O’Ryan Bosek and Andy Junglen rounded out the podium with only 5 seconds between the two.
The 20-lap Pro Stock final was the last race of the weekend. After a long icy battle, David Brown had the fastest total time. However, Brown had blown a corner during the race and missed a marker.
This resulted in a time penalty which put Dan Revering on top of the podium. David Brown ended up 2nd and Dillian Dohrn finished 3rd. The other two riders competing were Dustin Dohrn and Dustin Schwant who finished 4th and 5th.
