The Ottertail 100 was a new venue for the COR Powersports Cross Country Race series.  The Otter Tail Riders Snowmobile Club and The Ottertail Tourism and Events worked very hard with COR to put on a great event.  They plowed a 9.9-mile course on the lake with a lot of sweeping corners.  Andrea Myers, owner of COR Powersports said “It was an action packed weekend of great racing to kick off the 2023 season.”

The Pro Factory final race had several lead changes.  The fastest lap of the race went to Wes Selby on the Christian Brothers Ski-Doo, clocking a lap time of 9:04.745.  The Pro Factory racers did 10 laps and were required to take one gas stop.  At the gas stop Wes was in the lead, but he had a slow stop and came out in fourth.  In the end Selby battled his way back to first place for the win.  Second place went to Dan Revering and third place went to Zach Herfindahl.

Mckenna Cloose

The Pro Factory Women’s class had one of the largest showings of women racers that we have seen in several years.  The women ran a two-day combined time race.  Due to snow dust and fog causing poor visibility, racers left the starting line in 10 second increments.  By the end of the first lap all of the women were in a tight bunch and were fighting for top place.  The first place finisher was Mckenna Cloose, second place was Savannah Landrus, and third place was Unity Gausen.

Evan Peppel

Evan Peppel took the top box in the Semi Pro Factory Final.  After the race Pepple said “The course was tight and challenging.  It was really fun.”  Second place in the Semi Pro class was Jesse Hallstrom.  Jesse had engine problems in the qualifying heat making him start in the last position.  He really dug deep passing 14 racers to find his place on the podium.  Third place went to Nicholas Swenson. Swenson, a nationally accomplished off-road motorcycle racer who is putting in his first full effort on the snow, crashed into the finish line structure at the checkered flag, breaking his collarbone.

Keagan Houser

Sport Stock Class and Sport Improved Class both ran the two-day combined time races.  Keagen Houser was the first-place finisher in both classes.  Oliver Olson was the second-place finisher in both classes.  The only change came in the third-place podium position.  In the Sport Improved  Class Stuart Brandt finished third and in the Sport Stock Adam Brandt finished third.

Other weekend first-place winners were: Vet 30+ Adam Brandt, Jr Boys 14-17 Brandy Wadena, Masters 50+ Mike Carver, Trail Adam Brandt, Expert 600 LTD Brady Wadena, Masters 40+ Mike Carver, Jr Boys 10 -13 Rielly Clark, Jr girls 10-13 Reese Novacek, Jr Transition 8-12 Gage Clark, Classic Ryan Derrick.

Jesse Hallstrom had a great opening weekend winning Semi-Pro Improved Stock and finishing second in Semi-Pro Factory.

On Saturday, the Pro Open winner was Zach Herfindahl and the Semi Pro Improved Stock winner was Jesse Hallstrom.
