Following the recent announcement that team rider Mitchell Thelen would have to miss the entire 2019-20 ISOC national snocross season due to a knee injury, Cottew Motorsports have signed veteran Pro Lite racer Travis Kern to fill the vacant seat.

Kern, who resides in Aitkin, Minnesota, has been a series regular for several years, with a runner-up finish in the 2014 Sport class Championship and several national podiums to his credit. Kern was ninth in the Pro Lite Championship in both 2018 and 2019.

“I’m really excited and grateful for this opportunity with Cottew Motorsports and Polaris. I’m more ready than I’ve ever been before a season and can’t wait to start riding.”

The Cottew team will have a new look and feel for the upcoming season with Cole Cottew moving to the Pro class and former crew chief Robbie Malinoski moving on to pursue a new business venture. Conrad Evans and Jeff Haskamp will be back turning the wrenches and will be re-joined by Corey Verdoljak who was previously with the team. Kern’s father Rod, will also be helping out on race weekends.

The return to a Polaris team brings Kern full circle to his start in snowmobile racing.
