Snow, Moto or Off-Road, AMSOIL is a huge supporter of riders, teams and series in every powersports discipline that we tend to gravitate towards. With their corporate headquarters located in Superioir, Wisconsin, AMSOIL is more like a backyard neighbor for those of us in the Midwest, having been especially instrumental in the growth and success of professional snocross.

We recently had a chance to tour the company’s production and distribution facility in Superior, where 100% of their product is manufactured before getting shipped to their dealer network or one of 12 additional distribution centers around the globe.

The two things that really stood out after taking the tour were the quality control measures that go into the various lines of oils and additives before, during and after production, along with the pride and dedication of the many employees we met during the day.

The manufacturing process starts with raw materials being delivered by tank trucks and rail cars. This receiving bay can accommodate up to six rail cars and two semis. On average, four tankers per day get unloaded into storage.
Raw materials and finished product are stored in the “tank farm” which in total accounts for 2.4 million gallons.
Two fully-automated production lines are capable of producing up to 5,000 cases of oil during an eight hour shift. Four additional manual production lines also run during the company’s one-shift day, cranking out smaller batch runs and products that require a greater number of variables to make.
The automated lines do everything from mix, bottle, cap, weigh, box and stack.
Wind turbines are a specialty segment for AMSOIL and they have an in-house facility where employees can be certified to perform field maintenance on the towering structures.
Products of all varieties are stored in a climate controlled warehouse. This entire area turns over ever five to seven days.

While powersports only account for about 20% of AMSOIL’s market, their involvement with everything from drag boats to monster trucks has always been a huge source of pride and numerous awards decorate an entire wall in the facility.
The other side of the fork truck lane features memorabilia from the company’s past including a sign with the original Z logo which was a spin on the last name of founder Al Amatuzio.
