Record entries and a record crowd easily made the third running of the Ditchbanger National at ERX Motor Park this winter’s most loved and most talked about snowmobile race. With more than 250 racers, mostly on classic snowmobiles from the 90s, the Ditchbanger featured packed starting gates, great battles, and a boisterous crowd that filled the stands. All combined, it created a day of fun that had everyone already looking forward to next year’s event.

“We wanted to create the kind of race where everyone could participate,” said Andrew Carlson who along with others developed the formula for the Ditchbanger. “When Levi (Lavallee) held his Tri-5 race here a few years back, it was a lot of fun. So, we wanted to pull some of those elements into the Ditchbanger…something that was affordable, with a smoother track, and a focus on fun.”

With as many as 45 racers in a final, the action was nonstop, as were the laughs. With unseasonably warm weather, fans came in droves and enjoyed an incredible day and night of racing.

“The Ditchbanger is coming back,” Carlson said with a sweaty grin after enjoying his win in the Pro class. “We had a lot of great feedback and suggestions after last year’s Ditchbanger, and we incorporated many of those ideas this year. We will do that same thing after this year’s race, and make Ditchbanger 4 even more fun.”
