New Competition Updates Just Announced

ISOC has just announced Competition Updates for the 2022 season including a couple of big ticket items. The inverted start in the Pro final has been eliminated and those qualifying for the Pro main event will now be seeded straight up according their finishes in the two rounds of preliminary heat races.

This is a long overdue change that was instituted during the Tucker Hibbert era and ISOC should be complimented for bringing qualification back in line with every other form of motorsport. Also to their credit, ISOC starting lines in 2021 were some of the most even or fair across all 10 lanes of the front row. Let’s hope for more of that going forward.

Additionally, several Junior and Youth classes will now race on both days of a national weekend. Again, this is great news for all of the families who commit to traveling with the series and will now be able to better justify the expense with added track time.

The following is the full announcement –

ALBERTVILLE, MINN. ~ The 2022 AMSOIL Championship Snocross season is quickly approaching and all of us at ISOC are excited to enter the new year and build on nearly 15 years of pushing the sport to new levels.

Like most seasons, there are always adjustments to rules, procedural tweaks and race formats and next season will be no different.

Until we meet at the Pirtek National at Canterbury Park in January, here’s the latest as you make your final pre-season preparations.

·        Registration is now live, along with the 2022 season schedule at https://members.snocross.com/users/1564. Please update your profile and register for your ISOC Membership. You will also need your ISR License prior to race registration. That link is provided on the members page

·         Thanks to a great amount of positive feedback, all of the Nationals will be adding a second day of racing in several classes. Historically only ran on Saturday’s, the Stock 200, Transition 8-10, Transition 9-13 and Junior 14-15 classes will be added to Friday’s race line-up.

·         The Showdown at Sundown will return in 2022. The annual event hasn’t been held for the past two seasons due to schedule changes, but the top regional racers from across North America will square off on Friday at Lake Geneva on March 18. Friday night will also feature the AMSOIL Dominator. Please look at event page for more information.

·         The helmet rule has changed. We are no longer requiring orange on the helmet but highly recommending it. Please look at rulebook for more clarification.

·         Finally, qualifying and lining-up for the Pro Final will receive a small tweak in 2022. Entrance into the Pro Final will be based upon qualifying in heat races and lining up for the final will no longer include an invert.

AMSOIL Championship Snocross will start the new season January 7-8 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn. The 2022 season will continue to air all 16 rounds on CBS Sports Network, and via livestream at www.snocross.com.
