Tayla Jones navigating the woods en route to another win.

CROSS FORK, Penn. (July 24, 2018) – With a dreary forecast, the Rattlesnake National Enduro looked as if it was going to be a mudder as the KR4/Husqvarna team headed up the road to Cross Fork, Pennsylvania. Fortunately, the pine trees and rocky terrain kept the course in raceable condition for the fifth round of the Kenda AMA National Enduro (NEPG) series.

After a short two-week break from NEPG racing, both Cory Buttrick and Tayla Jones were eager to get back racing this past Sunday, July 22. The day was shortened to only five tests after track officials elected to skip the fifth test due to the conditions.

Tayla Jones’ race day didn’t start the way she wanted and she struggled through the first test with a few different crashes. However, the reigning champion was back in her groove on the very next test where she topped the charts for the remaining four tests. Jones captured her fourth straight Women’s Elite class win and maintains a 15-point lead in the championship standings.

“I had a pretty good day,” said Jones. “I started off slow and a couple crashes hindered my overall result, but I’m happy to get another class win. I really liked the tests, they were challenging but fun!”

Unfortunately, Cory Buttrick didn’t find the same success as his teammate. After scoring an impressive top-five finish in the first test, Buttrick broke his brake line in the second test and couldn’t find a smooth line through the rocks all day and ultimately finished seventh overall.

“I really just wanted to start the day over,” said Buttrick. “It seemed like nothing quite went right… I broke a rear brake line early in the second test and had plenty of falls in the rest. I just took too long to get comfortable in the rocks, and it didn’t help having a short day with only five tests.”

The KR4/Husqvarna team has a three-week break until the next race – the Wade Farm Full Gas Sprint Enduro. Before heading to Indiana, the team will spend time training at the GTR Complex in Gaston, South Carolina. The complex is open to both ATVs and dirt bikes and is open daily. If you’re planning a trip and don’t want the hassle of transporting your own bike, make sure to check out the Arrive-n-Ride program! The KR4 team will prepare you a Husqvarna machine and have it on-site awaiting your arrival!
