The cross-country caravan of the USXC made it’s annual visit to Thief Thief River Falls, Minnesota for the Seven Clans TRF 250. The race weekend was made up of two days of racing with an I-500 style scoring format. Day one’s race course was a 40 mile all ditch loop with riders making three laps. On day two, riders took a longer 60 mile loop with only two laps. Scoring was a consecutive two day total of the times. At this event, the Junior riders got to compete both days running one lap each day.

Ryan Springer was flying all weekend in the Pro Stock class ending day 1 with over a 3 minute lead over the rest of the field. His finishing time for day 1 was 1 hour 52 minutes and 27 seconds. On day 2 he clocked in 3rd fastest but he had enough wiggle room to clench the Pro Stock win. Springers total time was 3 hours and 46 minutes.
Justin Tate was another pro rider that was on fire all weekend despite the flat light making it almost impossible to see approaches coming. Tate worked his way from 7th to 3rd on the course on day 1 and 8th to 2nd on day 2. This earned him an overall 2nd place for the weekend in Pro Stock. He also took home the win in the Pro Open class due to Springer not entering the class. Tate’s total time was 3 hours and 48 minutes.
Aaron Christensen showed his speed once again after coming off a win last weekend in Park Rapids. Christensen finished day one 5th quick and day two with the fastest time of the day. This was enough to earn himself a 3rd place finish in Pro Stock and 2nd in Pro Open. It also put Christensen on the top of the Pro Stock Points standings.
David Brown was the lone Arctic Cat at the top of the field at the TRF 250. He found himself in 3rd after day 1 with a time of 1 hour and 55 seconds. He ended his weekend with a 4th place finish in Pro Stock and a 3rd place finish in Pro Open.
Semi Pro rider Marshall Busse carried his momentum from his win in Park Rapids last weekend. He had a near flawless day 1 ending with the time of 2:00:10 which was 5 minutes over the rest of the field. On day two he carried the same speed earning him another win in the Semi-Pro class.
Semi-Pro/Sport rider Boe Bunke had a stellar weekend in the ditches of Thief River Falls. After have his sled start on fire the past two races, he finally was able to show his talent in round 3. On day 1 he was 2nd fastest with the time of 2:05:00. But on day 2 he had a time on lap 1 that beat half the Pro riders times; 54 minutes and 52 seconds. Unfortunately, after the fuel stop on lap 2 Bunke had a hard off which made him refuel before continuing. Nonetheless, Bunke still claimed with 3rd place spot overall in Semi-Pro and took the win in the Sport 600 class.
Cooper Kangas shined again this weekend taking home the win in both the Expert 600 Limited class and the Junior 14-17 class. Remember Cooper is only 12-years-old.
Danika Diesen was another consecutive winner this weekend after winning the Junior 14-17 Girls class in both Park Rapids and TRF.

These results make it an all Polaris sweep for both the Pro and Semi Pro classes at the TRF 250.

After 3 rounds of racing, Aaron Christensen is leading the Pro Stock point standings with Wes Selby in 2nd and Justin Tate in 3rd. Last years Pro Stock points champions, Zach Herfindahl, had a mechanical issue on day 1 after the first lap which resulted in a DNF for the weekend. This now puts him in 5th for the Pro Stock points standings. For the Pro Open standings, Justin Tate is leading with Wes Selby in 2nd and Aaron Christensen in 3rd. In Semi Pro, Marshall Busse is on top with Dustin Dohrn in 2nd and O’Ryan Bosek in 3rd.
