After opening the Snowcross Super League season with a big win in Boden, Sweden, 2022 Pro Champion Gustav Sahlsten has elected to stay in Europe to pursue a second straight title and will not be returning to the Green Mountain Racing team in the U.S.

Sahlsten was a late addition to the GMR team and was performing well as a rookie Pro with ISOC. His appearance also helped bolster a dwindling Pro field, that was further affected by the loss of GMR racer Aki Pihlaja due to injury at Canterbury Park, on the same weekend Sahlsten made his debut.

GMR has hinted that they may have yet another fill-in rider in the field when the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series resumes in New York on February 17-18. Team owner Nate Tatro also confirmed that Pihlaja will be back in action before the end of the season.
