The second round of the Swedish Championship headed to Masessnowcross in Orsa Sweden. Orsa is in the middle of Sweden about four hours north of capital Stockholm. Gustav Sahlsten & Hilda Öhman came into the weekend undefeated in the Pro Open and Pro Women’s classes. The weather was a great improvement over Boden a couple weeks prior with temperatures in the mid-30s and sunny.

Saturday was the perfect day for racing

There were over 120 racers and more than twenty 200cc racers. In the Juniors 12-14 class Leo Öhlin was perfect in qualifying winning both rounds. Oliver Aneskog and Evohall’s Oliver Bröyt would win split the other qualifiers. In the final it would be Ohlin with the holeshot. The following lap Bröyt would muscle his way past take the lead. Linus Staff would make his way last Öhlin mid race and begin to chase down Bröyt and with two laps to go he made his move. He took the lead from Bröyt and would go on to get the win. Bröyt would finish second, Öhlin third, with Albin Johansson and Alf Granberg rounding out the top five.

The Junior 14-16 class was broken into a moto 1/ moto 2 format. In moto 1 it was Hampus Höglund with the holeshot and Sixten Johansson in tow. Gustav Vesterlund would get out twelfth after lap one and immediately started slicing his way through the field. By lap 7 it was becoming a three-way battle for the lead between Höglund, Johansson, and Vesterlund. Höglund would hold onto the win with Vesterlund getting past Johnasson on the last lap to finish second, less than a second behind first. Emil Hertén would finish fourth, with Niklas Vanhatalo fifth. Moto 2 would see Emil Hertén get the holeshot with Vesterlund and Höglund behind him. Höglund’s day would end early with a hard crash, moving Niklas Vanhatalo into third. Hertén would go on to take the win, Vesterlund in second and a last lap move saw Atte Vanhatalo take third. Niklas Vanhatalo would take fourth and Nicolai Wangensteen fifth. Gustav Vesterlund would take the overall win, Emil Hertén second, Atte Vanhatalo third on the podium. Niklas Vanhatalo and Hampus Höglund round out the top five. Viggo Bogg was hurt badly in the final and everyone wishes him a speedy recovery. 

Gustav Vestersund winning first overall

The Sport class saw Bruce Gaspardi Jr take the overall win with a 2-1 finish with Gustaf Holmstedt second and Anders Olmedal third. In Women 12-16 Elise Jonsson took another holeshot but a crash on lap two would send her to the bottom of the running order. This moved Victoria Laine into the lead. Evohall’s Nelly Eriksson started moving up through the field after getting off the line sixth. Holly Vesterlund would come up on lap four while running second. Laine would go on to get the moto 1 win with Eriksson finishing second, and Hedda Küchler third. Vesterlund would rebound to finish fourth and Ronja Brännström fifth. Victoria Laine would get the holeshot in moto 2 with Elise Jonsson right behind her. Jonsson would make the pass for the lead on lap three and never look back taking the moto 2 win. Laine would go on to finish second, Holly Vesterlund made moves to finish third. Nelly Eriksson would finish fourth and Hedda Küchler fifth. Laine would go on to get the overall win with her 1-2 finish. Nelly Eriksson would get second overall, and Vesterlund third. Küchler would finish fourth overall and Jonsson fifth.

In Pro Stock it was Albin Persson going into the final as top qualifier after he won both rounds of qualifying. Håkon Berge and Anton Lindgren would split the other two qualifying wins. Thor David Rasmus, Dennis Kangasmaa, Jonathan Nilsson, Isac Slott, Per Mikael Wagenius, and Ørjan Aune would take the top six spots to transfer out of the lcq to the final. Oscar Nikula would get the final holeshot with Wilmer and Andersson and Anton Lindgren right behind him. Nikula began to stretch out his lead as the battle intensified in the field. Lindgren would make his way past Andersson for second. Thor David Rasmus had started making his way through the field from back row, moving into the top five. Nikula would go on to take the final win by over nine seconds. Lindgren would finish second, and Rasmus would make his way onto the podium in third. Oliver Håkensen would finish fourth and Felix Andersson fifth.

The Pro Women’s class saw Hilda Öhman pick up where she left off in Boden taking the top time in qualifying. She continued that dominance in moto 1 grabbing the holeshot over Thea Arnesson and Davina Backteman. Öhman started to open up a gap to the rest of the field. Wilma Jonsson and Team Southside’s Polaris’ Ida Rosell started to make their way through the field after tough starts for both of them. By the midway point of the race the Jonsson had made her way into the third position and Rosell into the sixth position. Öhman would go onto take the win with Arnesson second and Jonsson third. Backteman would hold onto fourth position with Ellen Bäcke & Rosell fifth and sixth.

Pro Women moto 2 saw Hilda Öhman with her second holeshot of the day with Ellen Bäcke in tow. The top two would stay that way for half the race, until Öhman began stretching out her lead and Thea Arnesson took second place from Bäcke. Wilma Jonsson would be the next one to steal place from Bäcke moving into third. Öhman gapped second by over twenty seconds by the time the checkered flew. Behind her it was Arnesson in second, Backteman third, Jonsson fourth, Bäcke fifth and Rosell sixth. Öhman would take the overall win with Arnesson and Backteman on the podium with her. 

Hilda Öhman takes first overall in Pro Women’s

In Pro Open it was Gustav Sahlsten with the top time in qualifying followed by Emil Hansson and Albin Lundqvist. Sahlsten and Hansson swept both rounds both going undefeated. It was Sahlsten with the holeshot with Albin Lundqvist and Gustaf Lindgren right behind him. The battle behind them would be intense. Linus Dahlberg after a bad start began carving through the field from ninth place to inside the top five. Emil Hansson was last at the end of lap 1, but he put his head down and made quite a charge over the course of the final. Martin Johansson started the race inside the top 5 but crash early on ended his night. When the checkered flag flew it was Sahlsten winning the final, Lundqvist in second, and rookie Lindgren in third. Dahlberg’s charge would find him finishing fourth and Hansson rounding out the top five.
